Trailer Audience Feedback Questionnaire

The girls in the group and I have brainstormed questions that could be sent to our target audience along with the link to our trailer so we could gain some feedback for our evaluation. We used the website SurveyMonkey to create a 10 question (free limit) survey about what the audience thought about our trailer, with both closed and open questions trying to obtain straight forward and informative views and opinions. I will soon create another survey for our ancillary texts (the film magazine cover and poster design) asking questions much like those in the trailers survey, as well as asking if the audience feel that the three texts appear to match in promoting the same product (Lockdown).

Feedback on first draft

Here we have some filled out sheets of feedback from our classmates on our trailer. These include possible improvements we could make, range of shots we need to include, whether our sound and image was synchronised etc. This feedback has really helped us as we are using this to improve our trailer and developing and improving on weak areas. We were also were able to recognize weather the trailer was suitable for our target audience which it was, therefore motivating us further.

From this feedback we are going to focus on making the storyline and setting clear at the beginning of the trailer and working in our range of camera shots and jump cuts. We are also going to ensure that we have suitable music as the survey revealed that the audiences wanted more sound in the trailer. Additionally, it was obvious that the audience did not fully understand the plot with comments such as "I don't get the opening bit" We are now going to film more footage of the scientist explaining the plot more so that they are able to understand and appreciate the trailer.

Text in the trailer

For the text in the trailer we wanted it to suit the theme of the title, so using Adobe Photoshop and the font 'Coalition' that I found at Dafont.com I created the titles that were written in the storyboard into image files that would fade in and out in the trailer, making sure they are all the same size, colour and font to give a professional and consistent look to the text part of the trailer. Below are the images that were created (in order of scheduled appearance in the trailer) :

The last image which is the title of the film was also used in the film poster and magazine cover, to not only make the design consistent throughout the different forms of media but also to help reinforce the title in the same style to make it recognizable to potential audiences.

POSTER DESIGN

After a few hours of playing around with the layout and pictures of the movie poster and listening to the helpful advice and input from the rest of the members of the AEFH Media Group, I have completed the film poster for 'Lockdown'.

I wanted the poster to include dark colours, so I darkened and de-saturated the photograph and using a large , translucent, soft brush tool on Adobe Photoshop I went around the edges of the photo to close it in and help focus the attention on the main characters creating a sense of enigma around them as they are surrounded by darkness.
The text underneath the title 'Lockdown' was chosen as it was recognized that almost all film posters had credits at the bottom in a tall and narrow font. Here are some images that I used as examples for what to write at the bottom of the poster:

As you can see they all have dark colours and text at the bottom giving credit to those involved in the making of the film (as well as the conventional 'Coming Soon' or 'This Christmas' or '2012' that are found in teaser film posters).
